Blog Entry #2.6 - Process Journal 1 (C)
The first step for me is going to have to pick an image for the front of my card. For this I'm just going to need Google n at least 30 minutes. The second step is going to be to come up with a quote for each card which will take me like 45 minutes and a few cards on Yom Kippur would be helpful to give me ideas. Then i could use Adobe Illustrator to put the images and quotes together into a card which is going to take me like an hour for all the cards.
Blog Entry #2.5 - Design Brief (A)
I am going to design and create three cards based on the holiday of Yom Kippur. Each card is going to be targeted to a different audience. The goal of the product is for it to be appealing to my different audiences so that it encourages them to buy the cards. My target market's demographics are kids from ages 5-10, adults and Hispanics with appreciation for bright and warm colors. I think a product is successful when it has value and quality in its structure, which include the images and quotes used for it. Styles that i wouldn't want to see in my design are dull colors and unappealing images.

The effects that they added to the front of the card, like glitter, make it affection grabbing to the customers.

"It's Your Birthday", it's located on the top center of the card.
5. What text is written inside the card? Where is it located inside the card?
"It's time for presents, party hats, for cakes, and candles, too, and time to wish a lot of fun to someone special- you! Happy, Happy Birthday"

On the back of the card you find the price and the manufacturer.
8. To what consumer is this card targeted? (Consider age group, gender, race and/or religion.) What about the design led you to this conclusion?

Blog Entry #2.3 - Product Analysis 2 (A)

1. What holiday/event does the card represent?
This card also represent Christmas.
2. What type of images are used – photos, cartoons or graphics? How do the images used connect to the holiday/event?
The card consists of a cartoon of a penguin holding a candy cane. The image connects to Christmas because candy canes are like the signature candy for this holiday.
3. In your opinion, is the cover of the card attention-grabbing? Explain exactly why or why not. Consider the arrangement of elements as well as use of images, color and text.
I think the cover is attention grabbing because its a very cute image and people are attracted to images that they find flattering.
4. What text is written on the front of the card? Where is it located on the front?
"It's Christmas!". The text is located on the top center of the card.
5. What text is written inside the card? Where is it located inside the card?
"Make it a merry one!". Its also located in center but in the middle of the card.
6. In your opinion, does the text inside the card connect to the image(s) on the cover? Explain exactly why or why not.

The back of the card consists of the company logo, email address and location in which the card was made. It also has the card's serial number.

Blog Entry #2.1 - Design Task (A)
The design task that I have been asked to solve for this project is to design cards for Yom Kippur. I'm creating three different cards for Yom Kippur for three different types of consumers. The consumers I'll be creating my cards for are the middle aged Jewish population, Jewish kids and Hispanic Jewish people.
Blog Entry #2.2 - Product Analysis 1 (A)

1. What holiday/event does the card represent?
This card represents Christmas.
2. What type of images are used – photos, cartoons or graphics? How do the images used connect to the holiday/event?
In this card the makers used a picture. The picture connects to Christmas because its an image of Christmas cookies tied with a red material and red is one of the Christmas color.
3. In your opinion, is the cover of the card attention-grabbing? Explain exactly why or why not. Consider the arrangement of elements as well as use of images, color and text.
I believe its a nice card if people had the patience to look for it but if they didn't and just walked into the store the card wouldn't catch their eye. The color is gentle and soft and the writing is very small.
4. What text is written on the front of the card? Where is it located on the front?
"Small joys, simple goodness, hope renewed...". The writing is located on the upper right hand corner of the card.
5. What text is written inside the card? Where is it located inside the card?
"Hope your holidays are filled with all the things that make a wonderful life." It's located on the on the center of the right half of the card.
6. In your opinion, does the text inside the card connect to the image(s) on the cover? Explain exactly why or why not.
I think it does because they're trying to say that cookies is one of those things that makes Christmas wonderful, or at least a bit yummier.
7. What types of information appears on the back of the card? (Do not copy it exactly!)
On the back of the card they have the address and website of the Hallmark company and that the card was made from recycled paper. The card's serial number is also on the back.
8. To what consumer is this card targeted? (Consider age group, gender, race and/or religion.) What about the design led you to this conclusion?
I think this card is targeted towards older people because of the formal writing in the soft colors used for it.

Blog Entry #1.15- Human Ingenuity Investigation (E)
I hope that all of the viewers like the poster and that they get the main message that i designed that specific poster to portray. The messages that the students, parents, teachers and visitors get from this project arent always going to be the same because different people have different opinions and look at things in different ways.
Blog Entry #1.14- Attitudes Evaluation (E)
Inquirer was my greatest strength in this project. When trying to find definitions for the IB Profiles i was in charge of i didnt juste settle for the first one i found. I kept looking until i found one that i felt explained that profile most accurately. My biggest challenge was being open-minded because i thought that my ideas were the best. But in the end i accepted that sometimes someone elses idea was better. I think i could have worked better because in certain parts i kept slacking off. Like in the sketches i could have done more and have been more specific.
Blog Entry #1.13- Create Evaluation (E)
One problem i had was that i felt like me and my partner didnt take enough pictures for all 10 of the profiles. My solution was to use pictures that initially werent going to be used for a certain profile but using it for that profile if in a way it portrayed the meaning of it. A skill i learned during this project was using computers to create posters. I could use this skill in other classes if we're ever asked to create banners or posters.
Blog Entry #1.12- Design/Plan Evaluation (E)
For a few of the posters that i was making i changed the layouts. I changed them because in the end i noticed that they looked better in different layouts. That the pictures came out better in that layout and it was easier for me to create the posters in that layout.
Blog Entry #1.11- Investigate Evaluation (E)
One idea that i incorporated from other posters i used for my IB Profile poster for Reflective. I saw how other students used two pictures for that poster. One showing a student unhappy with his grade and the other one with the same student happy about a better grade. I used this idea because it showed how students reflected on their mistakes and used them to do better the next time.
Blog Entry #1.10- Product Examination (E)
I think my posters look very nice. But if i had to change something about some of them it would be the images. Dont get me wrong, they portray the profiles very well but i feel like if we had been given more time we could have taken better pictures.
Blog Entry #1.8 - Final Design (D)
In my final designs i chose quotes and definitions that i felt portrayed the IB Profile the best. Colors that weren't dull or boring but bright and full of life. This design is better that the others because it's different. Instead of the quote giving you one specific definition of the IB Profile it makes you think about the MANY ways that that profile can be portrayed by a person. On all my posters the writing is going to be large like that people are drawn to read it n not just look at the picture. The writing that i put is going to be short and straight to the point, that way people don't hesitate to read it.

Blog Entry #1.8 - Final Design (D)
I like the way all my posters ended up looking. The pictures that i took matched the quotes that i used to define each IB Learner Profile. You would have gotten the point that i was trying to get across just by looking at the images. The background colors i picked for my posters were also nice. They were flattering colors that brought attention to the poster.

Blog Entry #1.7- Design Specification (A)
- Poster.
- To inform about the IB Learner Profiles and persuade people to adapt them.
- Students. IB Learners.
- Large.
- Color, font design, images.
- It should look intriguing and alive. Presentable and instantly give away the point.
- Computer, printer, camera.
Blog Entry #1.6- Design Brief (A)
I am going to design and make different posters that portray the 10 qualities of an IB Learner. It's a type of advertisement, an awareness flyer. To persuade people to find those qualities within themselves. See how easy that could be and how it can become a positive change for them.
The posters that I will be creating will have bright colors. To catch people's eye and call the attention. I'm also going to make the font a fair size, big enough so that it doesn't get lost in the poster. The color of the font will be bright but not the same color as the background. So that they dont blend into each other.

Blog Entry #1.5- Areas of Interaction (A)
Mr. Wang highlighted two Areas of Interaction. The first is Approaches to Learning. This includes reflection. In this task we have to reflect and see in which way each of the IB Learner Profiles apply to us. The second and last one is Human Ingenuity, which includes advertising. These posters are letting people know about the different qualities and how they can apply them to themselves.
Blog Entry #1.4- Design Task (A)
The task that we have been asked to solve is on the IB Learner Profiles. We are to create a poster on each one of them. Each poster has to have an image, the title of the IB Learner Profile quality and a caption that descibes that quality.

Blog Entry #1.3- Poster Analysis 3(A)
1) A boy is helping another girl up off the floor.2) This image does not accurately communicate the point of the poster. Instead of caring the boy could come off as just being helpful.
3) The shade of blue that they used as the background didn't pop. I don think it was a good choice.
4)The word are located on the top and bottom of the picture. They're located there because words are usually always located on mid sections.
5) The font used here is Times Roman and I think they should have used an unordinary font to call more the attention.

Blog Entry #1.2- Poster Analysis 2 (A)
1)This is a student standing next to three flags from different countries.2)I don't think the image communicates the point that way. Standing next to flags does not make you look open minded. They could have spoken about the different cultures of those countries.
3)The color used for the background is not used that often. A very uncommon color always calls the attention.
4)The words are located on the top of the poster in the middle. It's the first thing you see on the poster so that was a good place to put the title.
5)I like the font that was used. It's like goth letters. If the color of the font had been the colors of a certain flag it would have been much better.
Blog Entry #1.1- Poster Analysis 1 (A)
1)This is an image of a team working together to row a boat.2)I think it does communicate the topic of the poster because the group has to row together to move in a controlled manner.
3)The color used for the font was a good color because since the background was black it popped out more.
4)They're located at the bottom of the poster in the middle. I think it was written there so that it could draw the attention. Be the first thing that was noticed.
5)The font was in capital letters. I think it was a good choice because it showed how important that topic was. Being capitals added emphasis to the word.
